Testing Information

The End of Course Examination Program (EOCEP) is a statewide assessment program of end-of-course tests for gateway courses that award units of credit in English/language arts, mathematics, science, and social studies. The EOCEP is designed to support instruction aligned to state academic standards, encourage student achievement, and measure students’ mastery of the academic standards taught in each course.

Gateway courses in English/language arts, mathematics, science, and social studies are defined by the South Carolina State Board of Education. EOCEP examination scores count as 20 percent of a student’s final grade in gateway courses. Current gateway courses include Algebra 1, Biology 1, English 2, and United States History and the Constitution, as well as any courses with different names or activity codes in which the same academic standards are taught.

2026 Testing Dates

• English II (Writing): May 12, 2026
• English II (Reading): May 14, 2026
• Algebra I: May 19, 2026
• Biology: May 20, 2026
• U.S. History: May 21, 2026
