Academic Challenge Quiz Team: The Academic Team is a group of students who share the joy of learning through academic competition. This is a quick recall team for 9th through 12th grade students, and they compete annually during the fall semester. The competition involves rounds of quick questions and answers using a buzzer system. Teams earn points in each round in an effort to get to the championship round. American Sign Language: The ASL Club is a welcoming space for students interested in learning and practicing American Sign Language. Our goal is to build communication skills, foster inclusivity, and celebrate the richness of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing community. Members will participate in fun, interactive activities such as learning signs for everyday conversations, playing signing games, and engaging in cultural discussions. Whether you are brand new to ASL or already have some experience, this club offers an encouraging environment to grow your skills, connect with others, and promote awareness of the importance of accessibility and communication. Catawba Ridge Clay Busters: Join the Clay Busters Club! We are a community of clay pigeon enthusiasts, from experiences to brand-new beginners. Whether you're looking to hone your skills, compete in friendly tournaments, or just enjoy the thrill of breaking clays with friends, our club offers a welcoming and supportive environment. Chess Club: Come learn how to play chess which improves concentration and problem solving skills. You can also participate in competitions to see who is the master at chess. Club Unify: Unified Sports is through Special Olympics. It is an opportunity for our students without disabilities to participate in disability awareness activities and various sports with our Level 1/2/3 Special Settings students. We will have various disability awareness campaigns and activities throughout the school. We will also have a Unified Track & Field & Tennis Team this year. Digital Variation: This club will give students the opportunity to experience the field of technology without having to take a semester long class for it. Diversity Council: The mission of the CR Diversity Council is to collaborate with CRHS administration and provide feedback on issues concerning the student body, in order to continue fostering an inclusive culture at CRHS. Drama Club: All are welcome in the drama club! No acting or theatre experience necessary. Students will learn and practice acting and technical theatre skills, participate in theatre competitions, community outreach, and future theatre productions. Esports: Students are placed on teams for their favorite games, they set up practice schedules, are given a match schedule and strategize to win their matches against other school. FFA: FFA is a dynamic youth organization that changes lives and prepares members for premier leadership, personal growth and career success through agricultural education. FFA develops members’ potential and helps them discover their talent through hands-on experiences, which give members the tools to achieve real-world success. Members are future farmers, chemists, veterinarians, government officials, entrepreneurs, bankers, international business leaders, teachers and premier professionals in many career fields. FFA is an intracurricular student organization for those interested in agriculture and leadership. It is one of the three components of agricultural education. The official name of the organization is the National FFA Organization. The letters “FFA” stand for Future Farmers of America. HOSA: HOSA is a student-led organization of Future Health Professionals. It is the largest international organization operating in schools for students enrolled in health science and biomedical sciences programs and serving those interested in pursuit of career in health and biomedical professions. HOSA’s purpose is to develop leadership and technical competencies through a program of motivation, awareness and recognition, which is an integral part of the instructional program. This student-led organization provides opportunities for students to practice and refine their academics, technical, leadership and teamwork skills to achieve seamless transition from classroom to career. The mission of HOSA is to enhance the delivery of compassionate, quality health care by providing opportunities for knowledge, skill and leadership development of all health science education students, therefore, helping the student meet the needs of the health care community. Interact Club: This is a high school version of a Rotary Club. Everything is focused on Service Above Self - serving others in the community. Students will have opportunities to earn community service hours by participating in community-based service projects. Meetings are Thursdays during FLEX in F105. LeadHERship Club: Our Mission is to provide a safe learning environment for teen women to become strong leaders within their communities. Maker Space-Engineering Club: The CR Engineering Club serves a purpose to inspire students to enter STEM careers and/or degrees by fostering a passion for problem based learning with a focus on engineering design. Mentor Matchup: At Mentor Matchup, our mission is to create a vibrant and enriching student club that fosters deep connections between upperclassmen mentors and underclassmen mentees. Through these connections, we aim to create a strong sense of school spirit, promote meaningful peer interactions, and ensure that every member feels supported on their educational journey. Our core values are connection, school spirit, peer interaction, and empowerment. At Mentor Matchup, we recognize the transformative potential of connecting upper and lowerclassmen, enhancing school spirit, nurturing peer interactions, creating connections, and providing support. Mock Trial: A mock Trial is a competition in which students simulate a real trial. The trial concerns an official AMTA case that remains the same throughout the entire academic year. Model United Nations: This is an academic competition team that focuses on debate and diplomacy of the United Nations as students represent countries of the world and attempt to solve major global issues. National Art Honor Society: Membership in this chapter shall be based upon art scholarship, service, and character. Open to 9th-12th graders who have enrolled in and/or completed a period equivalent to one semester of art in high school. Students must maintain an accumulative "B" average overall and retain a "B" average in Honors or AP Art classes, or "A" average in all other CP art classes (Drawing 1/2, Painting 1/2, Ceramics 1/2/3). Set Up and Jam/Audio Engineering Club: Provide students an opportunity to explore audio engineering, develop new skills, and consider future career options; provide student musicians an opportunity to have their music recorded in a studio style environment. A club for students who are interested in playing/learning songs with other students. All instruments and levels of experience are welcome. Shades of Unity: Our goal is to make Shades of Unity an ongoing safe space for all students, as well as informing and engaging with our student body over questions and curiosity centering around diverse cultures. Tri-M Music Honor Society: Tri-M is an international music honor society that recognizes high-achieving student musicians for their dedication to music, leadership, and service. At Catawba Ridge High School, Tri-M provides students with opportunities to grow as musicians and leaders while giving back to the school and community through service projects, performances, and outreach. Members are selected based on their musical ability, academic achievement, character, and commitment to serving others.
